Overview

Mongolia in winter is cold, quiet and astonishingly bright. Herding families move to sheltered winter camps, the horses stay out in the snow, and the sky is clear for days. On this short private trip you stay with a family in the Terelj area, with time to ride and walk in the snow. If your dates fall on Tsagaan Sar, the Lunar New Year, we’ll try to arrange a visit to a family celebration.

  • Stay with a herding family at their winter camp
  • Ride sure-footed Mongolian horses through the snow
  • See the Chinggis Khaan statue against a winter sky
  • Join a Tsagaan Sar celebration, if your dates allow
